CLEAR are really grateful for the donation of a limited number of these badges to help us raise money for our work here in Southampton.

They were minted in 1920 for Southampton’s Mayflower Pageant and held by the Rector of Millbrook at the time, the Reverend James Lyne Beaumont James, with the intention of raising funds for the parish. They were never sold, which we think was either because they were delivered late or because Beaumont was detained in Canada – where he had gone to meet his sister and brother. They were kept in a rusty tin before being passed on to his daughter Elisabeth, who kindly offered them to CLEAR as part of the Mayflower 400 celebrations in 2020.

Each badge comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. We have just 30 badges remaining and these are available to purchase from shop at Southampton’s SeaCity Museum (which is a great place to visit or just enjoy a coffee!) – more information available here.
