English (ESOL) for Volunteering and Community Action
Course Level
For students with English at or above Entry 3 or B1. While this course is targeted at students who have completed ESOL studies at CLEAR at Entry 3, we welcome other applicants who are interested in volunteering or community activism.
Course Details
A 12-week participatory course to develop team-working, problem-solving, and communication skills in English. The course aims to build confidence, supporting participants to take up volunteering roles in the community. Students will:
- Take part in collaborative activities to build teamworking and leadership skills
- Learn about local opportunities for volunteering and community action
- Learn about how volunteering can benefit your community and help you into employment
- Identify and share your pre-existing skills
- Plan and carry out a project to gain skills and experience
- Develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills towards Level 1 ESOL
