CLEAR Remote Employment Support Volunteer 


 JOB TITLE: Employment Support Volunteer 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Refugee Integration and Employment Adviser  



Clear is a charity that supports refugees and migrantsThe Employment team exists to help refugees and migrants in Southampton look for work and also assist them on their pathway to employment, such as by helping them to access courses and volunteering. The role is currently based remotely 



  1. Working 1-2-1 with clients remotely, supporting them to make decisions about employment plans  
  1. Helping client to prepare CVs and cover letters as required 
  1. Assisting clients to identify skills gaps and apply to relevant courses 
  1. Assisting clients to apply for appropriate voluntary opportunities 
  1. Assisting clients to search for job opportunities 
  1. Assisting clients to apply for job opportunities  
  1. Completing application forms in conjunction with clients  
  1. Liaising with colleagues about job opportunities in the local area 
  1. Administration duties around recording appointments and actions 
  1. Support clients with specific applications and licences – such as for private hire driving or security licences 



3 hours on either Wednesday mornings (between 9am and 1pm) or Fridays (between 9am and 5pm) 


Person specification 


  • Fluent written and spoken English 
  • Understanding of the UK job market and how to apply for jobs 
  • Good IT skills 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Able to maintain confidentiality 
  • Good teamwork skills 
  • Good listener 
  • Proactive 
  • Understanding of the situation for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK (desirable)
