CLEAR EU Welcome Interpreter



JOB TITLE: EU Welcome Interpreter         

RESPONSIBLE TO: Advice Caseworkers for EU Citizens

LOCATION: Home-based but may have to attend CLEAR Office 2 James     Street SO14 1PJ at times

TIMINGS: Mondays 10am-2.30pm

Tuesday 10am-2.30pm

Wednesday 10am-2.30pm



To assist in making EU Welcome accessible for those for whom English is a second language. Languages required Hungarian, Bulgarian, Russian, Romanian, and Latvian. Other languages may be required from time to time. A commitment of 6 months is preferable.



  • Translate current posters and leaflets
  • Translate for Social media and website
  • Interpret advice for those for whom English is a second language
  • Assist in bringing greater awareness of other cultures to the EU Welcome and CLEAR team
  • Attend training and other meetings
  • Attend training as agreed; Fire Safety, Prevent and Safeguarding training are mandatory
  • Work alongside EU Welcome and CLEAR staff


Person specification


  • Proficient spoken and written English and the relevant language
  • Ability to translate written documents from the relevant language to English and vice versa to a high standard
  • Able to maintain and committed to confidentiality
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good writing, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Assertive and calm in nature
  • Awareness of time keeping and punctuality requirements
  • Integrity and ethical sensitivity

  • Able to do both consecutive and simultaneous interpretations
