JOB TITLE: Advice Team Admin Volunteer

RESPONSIBLE TO: Advice Manager

LOCATION: CLEAR Office 2 James Street SO14 1PJ

Weekly 4 hour session on one or more of the following days: Monday/Wednesday/Thursday. The same day each week is expected and we offer £3 towards lunch. A 6 month commitment is preferable.


Clear is a charity that supports refugees and migrants. The Advice and Employment Teams exist to help refugees and migrants build their life in Southampton, assisting them with accessing services such as benefits and housing, and applying for employment opportunities. The role is based at our offices at 2, James Street. SO14 1PJ.



Administration tasks:

  • Scanning client documents onto the Advice Pro database or for advisers
  • Accurate data entry of appointments and client information
  • Updating databases with missing information
  • Tracking and recording of client outcomes
  • Contacting clients to establish current circumstances
  • Booking client appointments
  • Responding to emails and assisting with general admin duties
  • Working with colleagues in the Advice and Employment teams to provide admin support

Person specification


  • Good standard of written and spoken English
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to telephone clients
  • IT skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Reliable and organised
  • Good attention to detail


  • Understanding of the situation for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK
  • Experience of working in an office environment (in any country)
  • Good teamwork skills
